Co-founder, Utopia Network
Beryl Samba (She/Her)
As co-founder of Utopia Network, Beryl is a visionary leader dedicated to creating safe, inclusive spaces for queer communities. With a passion for grassroots organizing and movement-building, she fosters connections that transcend borders, empowering LGBTQ+ individuals to thrive. Her work is a testament to the power of collective action, resilience, and joy in the fight for equality.

Carla Sutherland (She/Her)
Carla Sutherland is the Executive Director of Justice Work. Justice Work is a think tank/action lab that incubates path-breaking and creative initiatives to advance social justice. Our work is grounded in community-driven experiences and robust research and data analysis. We center marginalized voices and perspectives to challenge conventional priorities and strategies.

Deborah Iroegbu (She/Her)
As Executive Director of Women's Equality Space (WES), Deborah Iroegbu empowers marginalized women through tech skills and digital literacy. A passionate web developer, she leads WES in managing LesbianGlobal’s digital presence, ensuring visibility and impact. Through innovation and advocacy, Deborah is driving equity and inclusion in the digital space.

Movement Strategist
J. Bob Alotta (They/Them)
J. Bob Alotta is a filmmaker, movement strategist and senior executive dedicated to advancing social justice and equity through technology. From 2019-2025, they served as Senior Vice President of Global Programs at the Mozilla Foundation, where they built a $20M portfolio of grants, fellowships, research, convening and partnerships. While at Mozilla, Bob executive produced the award-winning IRL: AI in Real Life podcast, and the (also award-winning) Mozilla Festival – bringing together thousands of technologists, activists, artists, policymakers, and philanthropists from over 148 countries to collaborate, instigate and interrogate technology’s potential for society. Bob also launched the Data Futures Lab, the African Innovation Mradi, and the Responsible Computing Challenge. While running the Astraea Foundation, Bob designed the seminal CommsLabs for Human Rights Defense, the Global Arts Fund and the Intersex Human Rights Fund. A seasoned public speaker, Bob can move intimate rooms or rallies of hundreds of thousands – whether on queer and BIPOC leadership; just digital futures; radical philanthropy-as-practice; or myriad other genre and envelope-pushing topics that underscore our intrinsic interconnection as we attempt to build a society for all. Bob was named to Fast Company’s 2024 Queer 50 List.

Sellisse Berry (She/Her)
Selisse Berry, founder and former CEO of Out & Equal Workplace Advocates, has spent decades fighting for LGBTQ+ workplace rights, impacting over 50 million people in 60+ countries. Now a global consultant and nonprofit leader, she continues to drive change through strategic advocacy and mentorship.

Activist
Tracy Gary (She/Her)
Tracy has championed donor activism and women’s leadership for over 50 years, advising donors, mentoring leaders of color, and building cross-community networks. A co-founder of 24 nonprofits, she has shaped global philanthropy, including LGBTQ+ funding initiatives. Her approach centers on inclusive decision-making to drive meaningful change. Now on her final tour, she continues to inspire generosity through coaching, speaking, and her acclaimed book, Inspired Philanthropy.

As co-founder of Utopia Network, Wakio is a dynamic force in building inclusive, affirming spaces for queer communities. Rooted in advocacy and collective care, her work amplifies LBQ+ voices, fostering solidarity across movements. With a deep commitment to justice and empowerment, Wakio envisions a world where every queer person can live, love, and lead freely.
